It’s a tough call, but I’ll say the best book of 2008 was The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. The worst book I read in 2008 (though it was published prior) was probably a travelogue called The Sex Lives of Cannibals. Totally disappointing.
Thanks for the contest! I’d love to read this one.
Best: American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld
Worst: The Washingtonienne by Jessica Cutler
I absolutely adored Olive Kitteridge (Elizabeth Strout) and hated The Lace Reader. I read a lot of terrific books that come up second, but Olive is the one that really impressed me both by its prose and structure.
Best: Purple Hibiscus
worst: Falling Off the Catwalk
The worst was easy.. it was the only book I couldn’t complete.. the best was a tough one:)

Okay, best book was “In the Shadow of Lions” by Ginger Garrett, this book introduced me to my love of historical fiction.
The worst was “Strong at the Broken Places: Voices of Illness, a Chorus of Hope” by Richard M. Cohen, ugh this author was so angery I couldn’t finish the book….each individuals stories were heart breaking and I acked for them yet I couldn’t get past the author’s anger.
I love to win a copy of this book, I’ve been seeing it everywhere!
Strong at the Broken Places: Voices of Illness, a Chorus of Hope by Richard M. Cohen

wow, close call. I mean I had a few favs, and I think Lisa Unger’s Black Out was near the top, but I also had a few DNFs… Bee Season by Goldberg was one I had trouble getting in to, A New Lu by Castoro was another… =D
i really had no BAD books just some that did not hold my interest as much as for good books, there where just so many of them i could not pick one
I need something new to read.
thanks
My favorite book in 2008 was Marley and Me. I can’t recall any bad books.
